Next up, Marcus is directing the world premiere of Ken Tingley’s The Last American Newspaper at Capital Repertory Theatre in Albany, NY. You can hear an early draft of the script this summer in New York City at Open Jar Studios on June 9.

Earlier this year, Marcus enjoyed a remount of his adaptation of Beowulf at Taffety Punk Theatre Company and before that another tour of The Tempest with Devil’s Isle Shakespeare Company in Bermuda. He also recently directed Romeo and Juliet for Chesapeake Shakespeare Company’s spring student matinees and the company’s outdoor production of Julius Caesar at the beautiful theatre built into the PFI ruins in Ellicot City.
Marcus is excited to remount his adaptation of Beowulf this winter. Directed by fellow company member Chris Curtis, Beowulf, a Retelling will begin in and run through February 2026. More info coming soon from Taffety Punk Theatre Company.
Overlapping slightly with the above schedule, he is delighted to be directing Romeo and Juliet for Chesapeake Shakespeare Company’s spring student matinees. Over 10,000 Baltimore students will see this revamped production.
Marcus will then join the cast of Holes, adapted for Stage by author Louis Sachar, at Center Stage in Baltimore. Directed by the inimitable Johanna Gruenhut, the show runs from April 16 through May 10. More info here.
Marcus recently finished a tour with Devil’s Isle Shakespeare Company in Bermuda. He played Prospero in an adaptation of The Tempest, directed by Séamus Miller, which was adapted with original music by the director and Emily Erickson.
